Stroke often affects one's limbs, resulting in loss of Motor Movement in Arms, Legs, or both. Physiotherapy after stroke onset can help rehabilitate mobility.
Stroke Patients often encounter muscle spasms, or sudden involuntary muscle movements that obstruct daily life.
Stroke can cause one to not be able to walk properly through loss of balance or coordination. Stroke physiotherapy improves balance and reduces fall risk.
Depending on your condition, a curated blend of Strength and Conditioning, Motor Skills Training, Gait and Mobility Retraining, and Range of Motion Physiotherapy Exercises will be prescribed for you.

Background: John is a 77 years old man who had a L cerebellar stroke who seeked stroke physiotherapy treatment 2 months after he was discharged from hospital. He presented with coordination & balance issues. He also had near fall incidences and difficulty with daily functional activities.
John's first stroke physiotherapy session comprised of a comprehensive assessment of current strengths and functional mobilitiy. Based on the assessment results and his current physical condition, we established goals, such as improving balance & walking longer distances, with the patient.
Based on John's goals, over the next 5 weekly sessions, a curated suite of strength & conditioning as well as balance & coordination stroke physiotherapy exercises were prescribed and taught. John also underwent Fall Risk training, as well as Gait & Walking training where he practiced using a walking stick instead of a walking frame.
After promising progress, in the next few weekly stroke physiotherapy sessions, John proceeded to a moderate balance exercise regime; tailored specifically to his areas of weakness. This was integral in reducing his fall risk. John also progressed to undergoing community walking & stairs training.
After regaining his sense of balance and being able to proceed with the daily activities in his life, John has transited into the maintenance phase of his stroke physiotherapy treatment. This involved regularly reviewing his fall risks and sense of balance, as well as stroke physiotherapy to maintain his current functional mobility, during his bimonthly sessions.
